For students to effectively progress from arithmetic to algebraic thinking, they must understand equivalence. Unfortunately, there are many students who do not understand the meaning of the equal sign and thereby experience problems interpreting, modifying, and answering equations, specifically those that incorporate multiple numerical terms.

Students will use their problem-solving skills to answer equations involving addition and subtraction within 200. Students are asked to view each number sentence and determine whether the statements are correct. They will write either true or false into the empty spaces provided. Incorrect responses turn red. Correct answers turn the box green and unscramble more sections of the mystery pixel puzzle. Great activity for revision and math rotations!
